CARNAC, Brittany

Carnac in Brittanny
The series of ancient megaliths in Carnac is collectively the oldest prehistoric site in Europe.
The alignments were erected from 4500 to 2500 B.C. It stretches along the horizon for 4 km, and count 3000 menhirs. Their religious role is generally accepted. The sites had to be closed to the public in 1991 to ensure their conservation. But we can see at the “Maison des Megaliths” (Ménec) an overview of the whole site.
