QUIBERON PLOUHARNEL BRITTANY
Paris - Quiberon with a ZE BUS PASS: Paris - Biarritz & hop off in Quiberon for a few days..
The Quiberon peninsula stretches on the west of the Morbihan Gulf and protects it from the storms of the Atlantic. The Quiberon peninsula is on the southern side of Finistère, near Carnac. It is 14km long, and connected to mainland france only by a bank of sand. Entrance to the peninsula is overseen by the 19th century Fort de Penthièvre.
Quiberon is a very popular seaside resort in the summer, and has some attractive beaches on the sheltered eastern coast.
The western coast is altogether more dramatic and a popular site for water sports, especially surfing and sailing. It is best explored on foot, passing if possible by Kervihan, kerné and Kerniscop for some of the most dramatic scenery.
The peninsula has many interesting features: several villages, fishing harbours, megaliths and the so called 'wild coast' that stretches on its west side, facing the ocean. A very nice walking path stretches along medium sized cliffs and small beaches of the wild coast. From there you will be a short ferry crossing from the beautiful Belle île Island.
